‘Let’s not forget Haiti’

“It's been a month since the earthquake took place in Haiti. Humanitarian work from all (companies, governments) has been very generous, but the support of each and every one of us has been crucial to clothe and help the Haitian people. The reconstruction, which has already begun, will last for years.
It has saved many lives, and has already managed to cover 95% of the economic contribution that the country thought it would be necessary in the first six months after the earthquake, to address reconstruction more immediate: essential infrastructure, health, food. Haiti was already considered a priority country in the humanitarian action group before the catastrophe.
The security situation is stable in the country thanks to the Haitian police, United Nations and police in Canada and the United States. That makes the aid to be effective and reach all who need it is very important. Especially in orphanages and hospitals that is where the fragility of children and patients needed more consistency and efficient delivery.
In the fight against disease, the United Nations Fund for Children (UNICEF) and its allies have gotten the vast majority of the population has clean water, and together with WHO and other partners, UNICEF is conducting a vaccination campaign for 500,000 children under 7 years. Again the smallest are the most vulnerable.
We must not forget Haiti over time. Now, past a few weeks, when they feel alone, when part of the public forgets them at the time of reconstruction and face an uncertain future. It is our task to make that future brighter and more promising.
Thank you all".
