Condolences for the death of Juan Antonio Samaranch

"Just awakening in Los Angeles I knew the sad news of the death of Juan Antonio Samaranch, honorary president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

This is a great loss to the world of sport. His name will be forever linked with the history of world sport and Olympism in particular.
 
For Spain has always been an emblematic figure, and we must certainly thank him a lot of the impetus of our sport and in particular the achievement and success of the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.

I will always be grateful for his involvement with the Spanish sports and proud to have shared with him the important moments of our recent history.

Rest in peace".
